YouTube Launches Flash Layover Ads

Adrants is reporting that YouTube has begun to test a Flash layover ad unit over their streamed content. You can see a video of it in action over at Freshcreation.

Nothing terribly interesting about it. Flash layovers on top of streamed content have been available for a while in the form of Brightcove’s Video Overlay, Pointroll’s TickerBoy, as well as Scanscout, VideoEgg and Adjustables.com. So far, the layover ticker seems to be a good addition to the streaming video ad format menu, providing advertisers with a better ad opportunity than pre-roll when it comes to short-form, user-generated content, and another arrow in the quiver for brand advertisers and professional content providers.
