Yahoo Buys Maven
As we mentioned last week, lost in the shuffle of the Yahoo! / Microsoft negotiating was Yahoo’s offer for Maven Networks. Today, Yahoo released confirmation that they had, indeed, purchased Maven Networks for $160 million.
The acquisition continues Yahoo’s infrastructure support for delivering and monetizing video. Last week they launched their Lifestream beta, their entry into the personal streaming game.

I know you guys aren’t big fans of Roo but this has to shed light on the potential value of RGRP.OB.
Brightcove and their backers are looking at that figure as well. No question they would not take the same offer.

For the record, we pick on Roo for their misfortune, but I personally believe that they had SO much to offer. You’ll seen in my earlier posts that i thought they stood to be a huge winner in the NewsCorp/Dow Jones deal. But can you explain what light this sheds on them? I’m not sure I get what you mean. Late last week it was revealed that NewsCorp actually made ZERO investment in them.

Not sure I agree on the $160 mil price tag for Brightcove either. But I certainly don’t disagree. If you dont mind, walk us through the numbers.
