The 4CHAN vs YouTube Porno Battle Royale

Well, I don’t really know what to make of this, but couldn’t ignore it either. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t end well. For whom, I’m not sure.

4Chan is launching a cyber protest against the online video behemoth, YouTube, for cancelling a user’s account.

The bulletin board site is inviting people to open anonymous accounts and upload porn with a mix of “safe” images included, especially the thumbnail.

For those of you not in the know, 4Chan is particularly good at starting a meme, so there’s a good chance that this will, at least, get some attention. They contributed heavily to the user’s 15,000+ followers, which raised the eyebrows of YouTube execs to begin this saga.

But the odds of it being a successful protest are slim, at least from an outsider’s perspective. 4Chan is encouraging people to set these accounts to “private” so no actual harm is done. Internally, however, there will be a lot of video screening and accounts being cancelled tomorrow.

Either way, we’ll be watching to see what happens.
