FYI Launches Axis of Comedy

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

For Your Imagination has launched axisofcomedy.tv, a new online video destination for some of the best comedy series on the web.

The 8 Axis of Comedy shows as described by FYI:

The hipster chic “The Burg,” critically acclaimed “Break a Leg,” the no holds barred “The Patrice Oneal Show,” newsdesk satire “Goodnight Burbank,” super heroically humorous “Kyle Piccolo: Comic Shop Therapist,” the uncomfortably confrontational “The Retributioners,” the socially deconstructing “GoodieBagTV,” as well as the bearded female manchild know as “Abigail’s Teen Diary.”

By focusing on serial content rather than one-offs, FYI hopes to grow a loyal audience that will be a ready consumer for new shows down the road. If you haven’t yet seen these check them out, they stand as examples of how content done well can succeed regardless of the distribution platform; and expect bigger and better things from some of these producers in the coming months.

Hiltons to Hawk Perfume on the Web

A Day With the HiltonsParis Hilton never met a camera lens she didn’t like. The six-part series A Day With the Hiltons will follow a mother-daughter duo that won an all expenses-paid trip to L.A. to spend the day with Paris, Kathy and Nicky “while they visit a salon, attend an intimate brunch and spend the afternoon shopping.” Not exactly my thing, but an interesting example of a new media distribution partnership nonetheless.

For Your Imagination Raises Funds

Friday, March 28th, 2008

According to FYI’s blog this morning, the company has raised $1 million in capital and will be seeking to raise a Series A round in the near future.

For Your Imagination, a New York City based online media company and executive producers of acclaimed web series DadLabs and Break a Leg, has received an additional $1 million in seed capital from ConsensusOne Ventures, LLC and will partner with the firm to raise a Series A round of capital.

CEO Paul Kontonis tells OVW that, “The funding will be allocated to cover our operating expenses for the rest of this year. We anticipate that our gross revenues will continue to grow, we are already at 60% of 2007’s gross revenues, and will provide enough capital to expand into new video content networks that will be revenue generators as well. Given the state of the financial markets we are focusing on growing our business upon a very stable financial base and to further develop our revenue generating channels.”
