Sites Set For Bin Laden Video Shut Down
After the highly anticipated video of Bin Laden was intercepted by US officials, the majority of sites that would normally carry such videos were shut down unexpectedly, reports Al Jazeera. Both the US government and al Qaeda itself are rumored to be responsible.
In the transcript of the tape, Bin Laden reportedly says that Bush is repeating the same mistakes in Afghanistan as Brezhnev and the Soviets.
Ben Adds: While we hate to give this any publicity and hope that his kidneys give out any day now, the fact that propaganda is now delivered this way is certainly worth considering. Terrorist groups using attacks to generate TV airtime will increasingly use this medium to perpetuate their cause.
The propaganda battle is being fought on video sites by both sides, a YouTube search for insurgent turns up hundreds of videos of U.S. troops beating them down. A search for IED results in hundreds of videos of roadside bombs used against coalition forces.
