Silverlight 1.0 Officially Released

Despite an aggressive push going on for quite some time, Microsoft has officially released its Flash killer Silverlight 1.0 into the market.

Mediapost reports that Web sites for Entertainment Tonight, HSN and World Wrestling Entertainment, Major League Baseball and Disney Interactive are already using Silverlight.

Ben adds: I keep waiting for a really innovative use of Silverlight, and while MLB seems poised to create a completely unique online video experience with it adoption has been slow.

Like any other Microsoft release Silverlight will take a long time to perfect and debug. In the meantime there will be lots of hype around releases like this while a small number of willing guinea pigs partners turn it into a working platform.
