Ding Ding Ding, lets get READY TO RUMBLE!!!!
Hulu may go from industry darling to industry bully. Hot on the heals of pulling content from TV.com and Boxee, the big green mind melting machine seems to have found itself in the center of a “whose stream is bigger” battle over content distribution.
According to Elizabeth Holmes in the Wall Street Journal, CBS has fired their first salvo back, stating, “CBS Interactive is well within its rights to stream Hulu video content on TV.com under its agreement with Hulu. We are evaluating our next steps at this time.”
I bet the folks at Google/YouTube are laughing their asses off right now. When is everyone going to wake up? The fight to be the singular dominant video portal is probably a fruitless one, with consumers being the only people who truly lose out. With technologies like Freewheel ensuring that all the right people get paid, why wouldn’t Hulu want TV.com to stream their content? I believe that there is a large number of people who still turn to the networks’ websites looking to see if their favorite shows are online, and those would be additional viewers that may not know about Hulu at all.
On a someone tangential sidenote – Isn’t it ironic that the website TV.TV is owned by a telco hawking international calling plans?

I offer the thoughts above as general inspiration but clearly there are questions like the one you bring up where the most important thing will be working in honest good faith. I don?t know if best practices have emerged around things like that, but I am sure that your job is clearly identified as a fair game. Both boys and girls feel the impact of just a moment’s pleasure, for the rest of their lives.
