Nickelodeon Launches Original Web Programming

Nickelodeon will launch their first original programming for the Web on July 22, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Nick Cannon’s Star Camp, produced by Quincy Jones’ production company, QD3, will follow eight kids – The Giggle Club – as they learn about singing, dancing and songwriting and try to work their way into the music industry.

The series will air in five 15-minute episodes.

Marjorie Cohn, executive vp original programming and development at Nickelodeon Networks, said, “Just in June alone we had the highest month ever for streams, up by 535% from last year. This is a good choice for our first online experience because of the format — reality lends itself to content that’s a little shorter.”
