MLB Playoffs LIVE on TBS Hot Corner

TBS and MLB have teamed up again this year for live streaming of this year’s MLB Division Series. While for obvious contractual reasons the coverage is not the same as the TV feed and carries only ambient sound, viewers can watch the game in its entirety from four camera angles on TBS Hot Corner.

MLB is using Silverlight to stream the game and mid-roll ads for CNN, Sharp and Blackberry are being inserted.

The player itself is noticibly light on functionality compared to what Silverlight is capable of – there is no option for picture in picture or for additional information and statsĀ  and clicking on the various camera angles switches the camera after first serving a 15 second pre-roll. But it is the only (legal) option out there, so if you’re looking to watch the game at work you could do worse.

You can switch which angle you look at. If you look at your screen grab there you’ll see the options “mosaic, backstop, pitcher, dugout, batter.” You should be able to click those individually.

  • Thanks, not sure how I missed that. Though still compared to some lofty talk by MLB about what they could/would do with Silverlight I’m still looking for more – I guess until they can really make more money on it advanced features are just taking away from the bottom line.

  • I think it is a major step towards online streaming of MLB.

MLB.tv has already made a agreement with silver line for online streaming of MLB. Looks like tough competition ahead.
