OK, I got my invite to Hululululululand. And while most people won’t be surprised since its already been written about, there are a few noteworthy repeats.
The interface is very Joost-like. I’m not saying “lawsuit” similar, but hey, at least pick a new font for the “Exit Full Screen Mode” message.
The “Lower Lights” function is a nice bell and/or whistle, though I’m not sure how useful it will really be. If you are watching full screen, there’s no reason for it. And if you aren’t in full screen, you probably want to be able to see everything else on the screen.
Users will have to try their luck to see which videos are embeddable and which aren’t. I was surprised to see that Scrubs is not, but full episodes of Heroes are.
Oddly, there is a message below the video of Heroes reminding me that the first season is available on DVD or electronic download, but no link to a provider except at the end of the clips.
Overall, though, Hulu looks like it will be an entertaining destination for people that refuse to type any extra letters in the address bar. How they will distinguish themselves from their content providing partners, however, remains to be seen. I’m still heading over to Fox to catch reruns. For me, the quality seems to be a bit higher.
It’s fabulous. I was searching about the site and found the pilot for St. Elsewhere. I never saw that episode.
I like the way it’s set up, the sponsored ad plays only at the beginning of the video. It offers a clean image and the site is easily navigated.
It’s a winner. More professional delivery than Youtube.
I got used to the compression on YouTube now it’s hard to look at the good picture. j/k I hope YouTube will get a bit cleaner.
