While most of us think about online video in the “regular” way – YouTube, Hulu and other entertainment – there is no shortage of video being produced without the direct intent to monetize it.
Video without the intent to monetize, aka enterprise video, was the focus of a large part of my conversation with Lou Schwartz, CEO of Multicast, while we were at Streaming Media West. Worth noting, Multicast also won the Streaming Media Readers Choice Award for Transcoding SaaS solution.
Which leads me to this very roundabout way of letting you know that the MCA-I Media Festival, an annual celebration of excellence in media communications – including training videos, short films, public service announcements, internal and external communications – has selected Multicast to enable the nearly 90 entries to be judged through an online competition. All entries will be hosted online and available to members on demand for at least a year afterwards.
Be sure to visit the awards site and see what the best in the online video business is creating outside of snappy little web series (not that there’s anything wrong with that) and extending the life of television programming.
