CBS Partners With EQAL for Harper’s Island

CBS and lonelygirl15 creator EQAL have teamed up for Harper’s Island, what CBS calls a “13 episode mystery event…in every episode, someone is killed and every person is a suspect…By the end of the 13 episodes, all questions will be answered, the killer will be revealed and only a few will survive.”

The show is the first collaboration between CBS and EQAL following news of their partnership last year. The traditional broadcast programming with digital interactive elements should make it the most advanced attempt yet to combine digital media and traditional television into a richer overall viewing experience.

On March 18th, several weeks prior to the television broadcast premiere, an online destination called Harpers Globe will launch, featuring “social show episodes that will be complementary to the television storyline.” All content will be distributed on CBS.com, CBS Mobile and across the CBS Audience Network.

EQAL CEO Miles Beckett sums it up in the release:

“The best shows on television are those that leave you wanting more at the closing credits each week. With CBS we’re giving fans more. More characters, more plotlines and more ways than ever before to interact with a television show…By bringing together the unique elements of both mediums, we’re able to extend and amplify the HARPER’S ISLAND experience to engage fans in a whole new way.”
