Another Fake Press Release Cons Bloggers

It’s funny how blogs in their rush to break news these days will post just about anything rather than be beaten to the punch. The fact that digital media is quicker than MSM doesn’t mean the reporting is better.

In a hoax that isn’t all that smart, Joost’s 45m in funding release was copied and substituted with the made up company HD AmeriTV. Similar releases have been put out with the exact same title for other fake companies, claiming funding by the same fake entity First Mutual Credit, quoting the same “Shaun Morgan” who is apparently just a con man.

The thing is that all those reporting this seem to have immediately realized it’s a hoax, but still called the company for comment without checking to make sure the company is real.

The Swiss Federal Banking Commission earlier this year issued out a public warning against Shaun Gregory Morgan who was banned from accepting deposits from the public or advertising any services using the word “bank” in the country in 2003.

Despite this interdiction Shaun Gregory Morgan presented himself illicitly as a represen-tative of „SDC Bank“, „Bank International“ and „Banque Internationale“. Further more, he recently, still illicitly, advertised to accept deposits from the public under the designa-tion “First Mutual Credit Corporation Ltd.” and “First Mutual Credit Switzerland GmbH”resp. “Privat Capital Invest GmbH”. Therefore, in order to protect other potential credi-tors, the SFBC publishes a part of its decision.

That’s why we stick to analysis and snark. It’s a damn good thing we’re too busy in our day jobs to sit watching the wire and wait for nonsense like this to cross. We’d much rather satirically analyze and laugh about it after the fact.
