ABC, NBC Open Debate Footage

Well it took a while, but this week NBC and ABC followed CNN in loosening restrictions on debate footage leaving CBS and FOX as the last network holdouts.

ABC will allow footage use without restriction for the August 5th and 19th debates provided they attribute them to ABC. MSNBC will allow unlimited excerpts of last night’s AFL-CIO debate but their guidelines are more specific.

It’s worth noting that ABC and NBC only opened up footage for these three specific debates. Use of footage from the previous 2 MSNBC debates is still heavily restricted.

CNN remains the only network to have made a blanket promise of unrestricted footage use for all future presidential debates.
